In March 2024, we left Douglas Fur behind with Grandpa and Grandma and traveled to
Belize via Miami! This was our first real vacation of more than a couple days for both of us individually and since being married. Honeymoon eventually to follow…

Six wonderful friends from Bend, Oregon were already planning to travel to Belize so we latched onto their plans. After an overnight in Miami and tasty sushi with Carin, we caught a two hour flight from Miami. A quick easy flight to a beautiful, friendly, and affordable country.

We spent several days in the Rain Forest waking up to hummingbirds, anacaris, swinging monkeys visible from our tree top oasis. Our days were filling with climbing and descending stairs to our suite and atop Mayan ruins and nearby lookouts. The property was lush, wildly manicured, and luxuriously spoiling. With no way off property and acres of property to explore, we happily enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner on property. We almost didn’t want to leave!

We knew the quiet and slow island of Caye Caulker would be more like our tropical home but with easier access to the sea. Nick and I had a couple of days of diving on top of the snorkeling, sailing, and swimming with the our non-diving friends. For an island known for requiring a slower pace we didn’t find a lot of that but it was a wonderful break from our usual life!
